Storage and Maintenance of Polyurethane Hoses
Plastic materials for polyurethane hoses can change their physical property during their service life due to certain factors. Even the reinforcing layer (polyester fibre layer or spiral steel) can be affected by different factors, especially if not stored properly. The following recommendations will minimise or prevent storage deterioration of polyurethane hose products.
Storage period for PU hoses: The storage period should be minimised by a regular rotation system.
If prolonged storage of polyurethane hose cannot be avoided, it is recommended that the hose be thoroughly inspected prior to actual use; hose not equipped with fittings (see date on hose label) should be in the same storage condition as the hose. Hoses without fittings (see date on hose label) should be put into service within two years, and hoses with fittings should be put into service within one year.
Polyurethane Hose Temperature and humidity: Ideal storage temperature is 10°C to 25°C. Hose should not be exposed to temperatures above 40°C. Hose should not be stored above 40°F. Hose should never be stored above 40°C. Hose should not be exposed to temperatures above 40°C or below 0°C. If the temperature is below -15°C, the hose should be stored at -15°C or above. If the temperature is below -15°C, some precautions are recommended when using the hose: do not store the hose near a heat source or in an environment with high or low humidity (do not store near the hose).
